Do not bluff on a hand just to bluff. It is important to notice the players at the table before bluffing. If a player always calls a bluff then it is fairly certain they will call this one as well if they are still playing.

Even if an individual is holding a good hand if they think another player at the table has a better hand then they should fold. It is vital to think about the cards everyone at the table may hold. Folding a hand early is acceptable.

If for some reason a hand starts off looking good but then turns bad do not just stay in the hand because there have already been a few bets. Calling on a hand that may be lost is just throwing money on the table. Do not get into that bad habit.

Try to remain free of emotion when playing. If there is too much stress or emotion going on then an individual may not think correctly and may bet hands they would not normally bet or not fold when they normally would. Take a hand or two off if emotion runs high.

Watching other players for tells is important to good playing. If certain players always react the same way to certain bets or raises then they may do that later in the game as well. Other players may fake a tell to try and lure bets in as well.

Try to limit any tells from how you play. Just as this can be used against other players in certain situations they will be looking for tells from you as well. Do not let betting habits form either.

If the money being played with is too important to lose then it should not be played with. Do not go to a high stakes game if that money cannot be lost for any reason. Only play with money that can be lost.

Watch for games with players in the same skill level. Although it can be nice to play with more experienced players to see how they play a particular hand that type of game will just lead to lost money. Play at your level game.
