Most Useful Info Regarding Continuation Wagering Explained

By Versie Gagnon

Many people are playing poker at this time and Texas Hold'Em is one of the most popular versions being played. A key facet of poker is to be able to bluff the others at the table into thinking that they do not have the winning hand. One of the top bluff bets is the continuation bet. Some people need to have continuation betting explained to them but once they understand it they can utilize it to their advantage.

Continuation betting is also known as a C-bet. In this sequence a person attempts to establish control of the table early by raising the hand before the flop is dealt. By doing that there is a possibility that others will fold but it signals to the others at the table that the player is confident with their hand.

Statistically there is a good chance that a player will not pair a non-paired hand when the flop is dealt. Because of this there is a good chance that betting aggressively on the flop may drive other players out of the game as well. At this point the other players will see an early raise and an aggressive bet and believe that the player has a strong hand to contend with.

One of the things that is important to pay attention to when using a C-bet is what cards come out during the flop. If the cards are of different suits and not in order then there is a better chance that other players will not stay in the game trying to hit a straight or a flush. At that point someone may pay the raises and bets to see if they get the cards they need.

If too many players stay in the game after the flop then a C-bet may be difficult. There is a good chance that someone else has a good hand if more than 2 players stayed in the game. When this happens it is good to know how others normally play to understand whether folding is a good play or not.

C-bets are not something that should be done at each hand. When a player uses it too often then others at the table will pick that up and will call the bluff to see their cards. Do not fall into patterns of using this or any other bluff.

Having continuation betting explained to a player can help their poker game out. One of the key points to remember is that any poker bluff should not be used in excess or others will start to call to see a player's cards. Being aggressive early is what makes this philosophy work.
